As Easter approaches, so does the World Irish Dance Championships. This year’s Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2015 will be held in Montreal, Canada from March 29 – April 5.
I never knew when my daughter started Irish dancing at the age of 6 that it would take us traveling all over the US for Regionals and Nationals. As she worked hard and moved up in rankings, she eventually qualified for World level competition where we have had the opportunity to travel to Scotland and Ireland. It was amazing to see the level of dance and how countries all over the World are represented in solo competitions and teams.
Although my daughter has retired from competition, I will always treasure the time we shared together, our Irish dance friendships and the heritage of the music and dance from Ireland.
